The postdoc position recruitment at the Space Radio-Diagnostics Research Centre, Faculty of Geodesy, Geospatial and Civil Engineering, University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn announcement

The Space Radio-Diagnostics Research Centre, Faculty of Geodesy, Geospatial and Civil Engineering, University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn hereby announces the postdoc position recruitment in the area of solar radio astronomy. The position is funded by the Polish National Science Centre and is a part of BEETHOVEN CLASSIC 3 project: “LOFAR observations of the solar corona during Parker Solar Probe perihelion passages”. The project will be implemented jointly with Leibniz-Institut für Astrophysik Potsdam, Germany.

The successful applicant tasks consist of reduction and analysis of interferometric imaging data of the active and quiet solar corona, including further development of solar imaging techniques in collaboration with the LOFAR Key Science Project (KSP) "Solar Physics and Space Weather" team. Furthermore, the researcher will also be involved in solar radio burst identification, in combination with Parker Solar Probe (PSP) data, as well as the planning of future of LOFAR observing campaigns.

The successful applicant must have a PhD in Astrophysics, Physics, or related fields. The postdoctoral position is planned for three years, with each year will separately evaluated.

We are looking for a candidate with a background in solar physics, who has experience with analysis of solar observations with different instruments. Programming skills are an essential requirement. Experience with Python and IDL is considered an asset. A very good command of written and spoken English is mandatory. A person who obtained a PhD not earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project may apply for the position.
