Invitation to Join the Online Global Seminar and Workshop: "Basics of Modelling in AVM"

Dear Enthusiasts of Automated Valuation Modelling and Real Estate Data Mining,

On behalf of the Scientific & Organizing Board: Peter Ache, Małgorzata Renigier-Biłozor, Artur Janowski and Thomas Dimopoulos, we are delighted to invite you to participate in our upcoming online session titled "Basics of Modelling in AVM". The Keynote Speaker will be the esteemed researcher and modeling analyst RUSS THIMGAN from the USA.

Russ Thimgan, a versatile person who residing in multiple locations, including Arizona, Colorado, and Ecuador. Russ is particularly adept in the field of Behavioral (Social) Economics. He integrates behavioral economic paradigms into his work, which spans over thirty years of experience in real property mass appraisal. Thimgan has made significant contributions to various published IAAO (International Association of Assessing Officers) textbooks and currently serves as a member of the IAAO Research and Standards Committee. Since 1997, he has been teaching mass valuation courses through Thimgan & Associates and has provided consultancy services to government offices in 42 U.S. states, as well as jurisdictions in Canada, Latvia, and Serbia. As a consultant, Russ formulates comprehensive mass valuation implementation plans, encompassing everything from data collection policies to modeling techniques and public relations strategies, with the goal of establishing institutional processes at the grassroots level and realizing the vision his clients.

At this seminar on "Modelling in AVM," we embark on a journey covering topics from linear regression to random forest, exploring feature engineering, the importance of training and testing, model performance and the effect of features, alongside discussions on mass valuation in the context of prospectives in mass appraisal and  challenges with data handling.

The Seminar is organized by FiG Commission 9, University of Warmia and Mazury, Institute of Spatial Management and Geography, Institute of Geodesy and Civil Engineering, and Neapolis University in Pafos.
